To port Sketches to Mac, I followed two guiding principles: I wanted to retain the main UI characteristics of Sketches, and I aimed for a seamless transition for Photoshop users so they would feel instantly at home.
Additionally, I designed specific widgets for the Mac to enable even faster interactions, such as changing brushes or modifying colors.
Using the same shortcuts found in Photoshop, Sketches offers a fast way with a visual feedback to modify brush opacity and size.
Some brushes, like the pastels, benefit from extra controls accessible through a dedicated panel.
To manipulate a selection, I designed this behaviour with a large handle that I find less cumbersome than the 9 small handles found in many applications.
The color eyedropper is right where you expect it, pick a color and add it to your palette with a click.
